Dr. Lawrence H. Moore MST Academy is a K-5 public school in the Los Angeles Unified School District. It is part of Local District South. We proudly serve approximately 550 students.
Dr. Lawrence H. Moore
(1936-2019) Dr. Moore’s career in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) began in September 1961. He served as an elementary school teacher, a special education teacher, an adult education teacher, a vice-principal and a principal. He also held administrative positions as Director of Instruction, Cluster Administrator, Coordinator, and Director of Professional Development. In partnership with African-American, Asian, Jewish and Mexican-American associations, Dr. Moore organized the Multicultural Coalition to promote better human relations within LAUSD. Upon his retirement in June 2000, he continued as a LAUSD substitute teacher for two years and taught as an adjunct professor at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). Dr. Moore received numerous awards, among others, the Charter College of Education Distinguished Educator Award, the Honorable Augustus F. Hawkins Distinguished Service Award, the Association of California School Administrators Outstanding Administrator and the Diane E. Watson Award. He will always be remembered as an educator that believed in the talent of children and the success they could achieve with proper educational resources and devoted professional teachers.
