CONGRATULATIONS MOORE STEAM ACADEMY!

Thank you to Ms. Ry, 2nd Grade National Board Certified Teacher, and Ms. Anguera, 5th Grade National Board Certified Teacher, for acquiring the CompTIA FUSE Grant from Northwestern University.  Moore STEAM Academy is the first LAUSD school to receive this grant. Our 5th grade students in 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 will have the opportunity to engage in a new kind of interest-driven learning experience developed by researchers and educators in the School of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University. The program engages students in science, technology, engineering, arts/design, and mathematics (STEAM) topics while fostering the development of important 21st century skills. FUSE is based on extensive research on interest development and interest-driven learning. FUSE Lab Studios currently have dozens of challenges in areas such as robotics, electronics, biotechnology, graphic design, Android app development, 3D printing and more! / Gracias a Ms. Ry, maestra del grado 2 certificada nacional y Ms. Anguera, maestra del grado 5 certificada nacional , para la adquisición de la beca de CompTIA FUSE Grant de Northwestern University.  Moore STEAM Academy es la primera escuela de LAUSD para recibir esta beca. Nuestros estudiantes de grado 5 en 2017-2018 y 2019-2018 tendrá la oportunidad de participar en un nuevo tipo de experiencia de aprendizaje basada en el interés desarrollado por los investigadores y educadores en la escuela de educación y política social en la Universidad de Northwestern. El programa involucra a los estudiantes en ciencia, tecnología, ingeniería, artes y diseño y temas de matemáticas (STEAM) fomentando el desarrollo de competencias  importante para el siglo XXI. Los estudios de laboratorio FUSE se basa en una extensa investigación sobre el desarrollo del interés y aprendizaje impulsado por el interés. ¡Los estudios de laboratorio FUSE actualmente tienen decenas de desafíos en áreas como robótica, electrónica, biotecnología, diseño gráfico, desarrollo de aplicaciones Android, impresión 3D y más!

School Vision

Using a constructivist approach, a student-centered environment will be established at Dr. Lawrence H. Moore Math Science Technology Academy. The students will culminate having mastered K-5 core standards through collaboration and project-based learning. Students will attain mastery of the content standards and apply in-depth knowledge to authentic real-world problem solving. This will prepare our students to be college-prepared and career-ready for the 21st century.

Our mission is to engross students in a rigorous standards-based learning environment that promotes and develops essential problem solving and critical thinking skills through Mathematics, Science and Technology. Dr. Lawrence H. Moore Math Science Technology Academy will provide tiered instruction and intervention that addresses the academic, social, and emotional development of each student through equal opportunity for engagement in an enriching and collaborative learning community. Our students will engage in authentic learning experiences, which will prepare them with the necessary tools for life in the 21st century.
